Ask Circleback Assistant
Get answers from your conversations and update meetings
Circleback Assistant can answer questions about your conversations and update meetings for you. When you ask a question, it searches across every meeting you have access to, finds relevant information, and provides an answer with citations so you can verify the source. If you've connected your email, it searches across your emails too, giving you one place to find information from all your conversations.
Ask a question
Go to the Ask page and type in your question, for example:
- "What did Sarah say about the Q4 roadmap?"
- "What's the latest on the Initech deal?"
- "What were the action items from last week's standup?"
- "What timeline did we share with Initech in January?"
Update meetings
You can update meetings wherever you use Assistant. While viewing a meeting, ask Assistant to update that meeting. To update other meetings, include the meeting name, date, people, or tags to help it find the right conversations.
You can ask Circleback to:
- Create, edit, assign, complete, and delete action items
- Create, edit, and delete tags, and add or remove them from meetings
- Share meetings with people, teams, your workspace, or a link
- Rename meetings and edit their notes
- Add your own private notes and tags to upcoming meetings
For example:
- "Share yesterday's customer interviews with the Product team."
- "Add questions about our hiring plan to my private notes for tomorrow's board meeting."
- "Mark my action items from this morning's standup as done."
For upcoming meetings, connect your calendar so Circleback can find the event. Your private notes are saved in Circleback and remain private when the meeting is shared.
Assistant follows your existing Circleback permissions when editing content or changing who can access a meeting.
Filter your search
Type @ to mention people, companies, tags, or specific meetings. Use filters when you want to focus on a particular project, client, or type of meeting.
Connect your tools
Connectors let Assistant search and take action in tools you already use. Open Connectors from the Ask page to connect Linear, Notion, Asana, HubSpot, PostHog, Attio, Ashby, Intercom, or Plain.
Ask about a specific meeting
When viewing a meeting, you can use Assistant in the panel on the right to ask questions or make updates to that meeting. For example, ask it to find a decision, add a follow-up action item, or update the meeting's notes.
Ask how to use Circleback
Assistant can also answer questions about Circleback itself. If you're unsure how to do something in the product, just ask — for example, "How do I share a meeting?" or "How do I set up automations?"
View sources
When an answer draws on your conversations, it includes sources showing where the information came from. Hover on a source to see specific references, select it for the full context.

You can view and search through past chats by selecting the history icon in the top-right of the Ask page. You can also find past chats by opening the search modal: select the search icon in the top-left or press / on your keyboard. Select a chat to return to it and continue the conversation.
